So, six months down the line (confirmed during a camera club day out) and several 10×8 photos printed later, what have I learned?
- To get results, you need to learn, this takes time
- You get one shot at everything, including the developing and printing
- B+w chemistry is not an exact science
- Nobody wants darkroom equipment, so it’s not expensive
- Rangefinder cameras are more fun than expected
- Timing 60 seconds is becoming second-nature
- People are more hostile if you aim an SLR at them
- Hostility increases if it’s a digital SLR.
… so far.
Six months? I know I said three months last month. How time flies when you’re in the darkroom. Or behind the lens. Or buying equipment. Or working to fund a hobby. Or chasing vanishing films.
It’s all fun… which is a good job, as it’s a hobby.
