To take the best digital photos you must buy the most expensive dslr (the more megapixels, the better), get all the electronic trickery available (including all anti-shake equipment), get the most expensive tripod and bag, get as many battery grips as humanly possible, and buy all the lenses (the best currently being made) available as soon as possible. Get the biggest media cards available, get a few, then get an imagebank too… you don’t know if you’ll run out of media card space, do you?
Once that’s done, look (and sneer) at your fellow photgraphers, those without the Nikon and Canon equipment. You’ve spent loads, so you’re guaranteed the best photos, right? You’ve a gaping hole in your bank balance to prove you’re guaranteed excellent photos, surely others will be in awe of your photos… no matter how blurry they might be.
When do you realise how daft that is? When your countless photos all have a tilting horizon? Trees growing out of peoples heads? Objects in the way of the subjects? Best go buy more stuff… art packages, guaranteed to make your average photos become masterpieces. Make sure you get the most expensive again, because that’ll do it all… right?
Still no good? Hmm… use raw then. You’re a profeshernul, and pro’s use raw, right? Time to go shopping again… raw image conversion software this time. Again, the sky’s the limit with the budget, no point in penny pinching is there? This is a good time to justify that imagebank, so take numerous shots of the same image. Still not quite right? No problems, “hdr” is the way ahead. Looks like you’ll be spending some more money on hdr software too. And as practice makes perfect, you’re best now learning how to use the stuff. How do I get that background blurry?
Sorry… did I forget to say that you need to know how the camera and all that software handles? I suppose now you’ll have to get some experience with all th… wait… did I just say “experience”? How much does that cost?

WOT…..someone could take a great shot using experience….that stuff that takes dedication, and lots of years?…..very revolutionary…..surely it would be far easier to ditch your compact/bridge/basic DSLR for a better DSLR…..and better lenses!!!. Much easier…..no?……SH.T !!!!

This rant sounds like something I mutter to myself on many occasions when looking at the “masterpieces” some produce. I know of so many people who think and act just like this; that if they have the best of everything, their photography will consequently be the best as well. Oh, how misguided some souls are.
So…what tripod would you recommend?
I know where you’re coming from on this one. Interesting thing is that with digital, the experience is virtually free. Unlike film where it cost a bob or two in film, paper and chemicals.
