I could not agree more. My digital SLR is cool but it cannot beat the style and ruggedness of my K1000.
I don’t know what I’d need to use to get a good looking photo of my 350D.
That upper part looks like the things doctors use to look in your ear/eye! really beautifull camera :]

The upper part is a Leica VIDOM viewfinder. As you aren’t looking through the lens with a rangefinder camera, as opposed to an SLR, you’re limited to what the designers have set as the viewfinders field of view. With the Leica LTM cameras, that’s around about 50mm. So when you’re using any lens other than a 50mm, you have to guess what the lens is seeing.
When you’re using the VIDOM, you set the viewfinder to what lens you have attached, so there’s no more guesswork. The only drawback with that viewfinder is that the viewfinder image is reversed.
