Ego boostage..?!

Over the Christmas period, I used the IIIc for photos.

There was a surprise in store…

After my beloved gave me a roll of film, as a Christmas present (one of a few presents, fwiw), I thought I might as well start burning the media up. After all, film’s made to be bought and used, and if it’s bought and used, it’ll be made. A happy circle, if ever there was one.

One visit to some relatives over Christmas, one impending clash of cultures. See, computers have their place… but they’re also in places they shouldn’t really be, to be honest.

I was confronted, upon entering the relatives house and front room, by a possibly self-confessed member of the geek squad. He was sat in a chair, resplendant with some sort of table-laptop thing. Upon which, there was an Apple iMac (I think). Hmm. Oh, and he was happily greeting one and all with one of the latest in handheld gadgets… a video recorder.

Cast your mind back. Picture if you will, someone who… having purchased the latest in home video recording stuff… is ready to walk backwards, with a monsterous video recorder thing upon their shoulder, whilst a video camera lens is aimed at you. You, the unlucky sod, are then expected to… perform… whilst walking. And, let’s not forget, whilst having an obligatory 80 watt lightbulb shone at you. You, and others, would be then subjected to the painful rigours of watching yourself on the telly, thanks to the ’skill’ of the ‘cameraman’ and a video recorder at the ready.

Fingers crossed the video camcorder was taking a well-earned rest whilst you were suffering the tortures of the television!

Aye… them were’t'days…

Anyway, “geek squad” was reclining in a chair, and happily showing off his latest toy.
“Geek squad” tries to tell me about how many megapixels the handheld contraption had.
“Geek squad” then had a smug look on his face.
“Geek squad” was then flashed a Leica IIIc.

“Geek squad” then uttered, “Well, it’s no match for a *real* film camera, *obviously*”.

A little bit of head-wobbling ensued, as “geek squad” tries to regain what upper-hand existed.

Strike two, I thought… as a memory came flooding back…
… “Proper camera that!”, someone said… after I’d waved a Zorki-4K on front of them.

There’s a happy medium smiling at me… obviously, or it wouldn’t be happy. And it includes a 350D.
