Another post of random things.
Overheard things… collected thoughts… opinions on things seen elsewhere… etc…
“… and it’s Leica glass, so…”
And..? Sadly, nowadays, the brand of Leica is only a selling point… a means for the manufacturers to add a couple of zeroes onto the pricetag. My 1937 3.5cm Elmar isn’t pinsharp. But it’s Leica glass in the lens.
(addendum: lens quality and anti-shake gizzmos mean nothing if the camera user hasn’t got a clue!)
The works of Henri Cartier-Bresson do nothing for me. They’re certainly not inspiring. Stuff of contemplation, maybe, but hardly stiring enough for me to pick up a camera.
… same for Ansel Adams.
If an art package can do very clever tricks, it’s got to be Adobe Photoshop! Unless it’s not. But then it soon will be.
“Because of the lens, there’s little digital noise”
Huh? Chromatic abberation is the bane of lenses, not digital noise! Digital noise comes from a horribly complex balance between digital camera sensor type, size, heat dispersion, static build-up and general digital camera noise handling algorithms. But, if that’s what “Numpty” wants to believe…
Books != experience != books.
A loud and boisterous camera user is still a loud and boisterous camera user, only more annoying when they try to hide the fact that they can’t handle their camera! Even if it does have the word “Leica” imprinted on the lens barrel! Think… empty oil drums!
